Lady Gaga, de son vrai nom Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, née le 28 mars 1986 dans le quartier de Manhattan, à New York, est une auteure-compositrice-interprète et actrice américaine. Élevée à New York, elle étudie au couvent du Sacré-Cœur puis parvient à être sélectionnée pour la prestigieuse Tisch School of the Arts de l’université de New York. Elle quittera cependant le milieu scolaire pour se lancer dans une carrière musicale. La très jeune femme se fait alors un nom sur la scène musicale rock du Lower East Side et signe ensuite une entente chez Streamline Records fin 2007 en tant qu’auteure-compositrice. Composant pour divers chanteurs et groupes, ses capacités vocales vont êtres remarquées par l’artiste Akon, qui la signe alors en tant que chanteuse sur son label, Kon Live Distribution.
Gaga perce en tant que chanteuse à la suite de la sortie de son premier album, The Fame (2008), qui est, en plus d’être applaudi par la critique, un immense succès commercial à travers le monde et incluant les numéros-un Just Dance et Poker Face. D'autres singles en sont extraits: Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say), LoveGame et Paparazzi, ainsi que Beautiful, Dirty, Rich comme single promotionnel. Son second album nommé The Fame Monster (2009) sera très bien accueilli par la critique. Il s'agit d'un EP prenant parfois la forme d'une réédition de The Fame avec ses huit pistes additionnelles. Son troisième album, Born This Way (2011), atteint de nouveau le sommet de la plupart des palmarès et génère, une fois de plus, de nombreux succès internationaux : Born This Way, Judas, The Edge of Glory, Yoü and I et Marry the Night, ainsi Hair, sorti en tant que single promotionnel ainsi qu'une tournée à guichet fermés intitulé The Born This Way Ball. Le quatrième album de la chanteuse, intitulé Artpop, stylisé ARTPOP (2013) contient les tubes Applause, Do What U Want avec le chanteur R. Son premier album en duo, Cheek to Cheek (2014), l'unit au chanteur Tony Bennett. Il s'agit du premier album de jazz de la chanteuse. Vendu à plus d'un million d'exemplaires et acclamé par la critique il est soutenu par les singles Anything Goes et I Can't Give You Anything But Love. Cet album s'est classé no 1 aux États-Unis. Son cinquième album studio s'intitule Joanne. Les singles Perfect Illusion, qui est succès dans les charts français, et Million Reasons qui sera certifié platine aux États-Unis en sont issus, ainsi que le single promotionnel A-YO. L'album atteindra la première place des charts américains et marque un tournant musical radical pour la chanteuse en allant du country au pop-rock, cette fois-ci accompagné d'une voix naturelle, sans aucune retouche.
Lady Gaga joue également de petits rôles dans Les Soprano (avant de connaître la gloire), Men in Black 3, Machete Kills et dans Sin City : J'ai tué pour elle, avant d'interpréter des personnages plus importants dans les saisons 5 et 6 de la série d'anthologie horrifique American Horror Story (son rôle dans la saison 5 lui rapportant un Golden Globe), ainsi que dans A Star is Born qui devient un succès mondial et dont la bande-son devenue no 1 fait de Lady Gaga l'artiste ayant le plus d'albums ayant atteint la première place des charts américains de la décennie.
Gaga est reconnue pour ses excentricités flamboyantes qu’elle transmet à l’industrie de la musique à travers la mode, ses performances et ses vidéoclips. Ses ventes de disques à travers le monde sont estimées à 180 millions, 30 millions d'albums et près de 150 millions de singles selon Billboard3. Ses récompenses incluent six Grammy Awards et 13 MTV Video Music Awards. J'ai toujours beaucoup aimé les chansons de Lady Gaga et, ce, depuis le début. Mais j'avais jamais vraiment été voir au-delà de la bonne musique et du perso extravaguant.
Il y a quelques jours, je suis tombée par hasard sur un reportage-documentaire fait par un fan sur sa carrière. Et... wow, juste wow!
Elle est vraiment épatante et très touchante. Plus j'en découvre sur elle (netfilx a également fait un reportage l'année dernière), plus je suis subjuguée.
Entre son côté fragile et très humain (elle souffre de fybromyalgie, a été victime d'une agression sexuelle, souffre d'anxiété, ...), sa persévérance et détermination d'avancer et de donner le meilleur d'elle-même à son public (elle a filmé une scène de A Star is Born quelques heures, voire minutes, après avoir appris le décès de l'une de ses meilleures amies), son envie de faire plaisir aux gens et de changer les choses (elle est impliquée dans pleins de causes différences, notamment dans la communauté LGTB, les victime de violences sexuelles, les personnes atteintes d'une maladie mentale, ... et elle a créé la Born This Way Foundation pour aider les jeunes victimes d'harcèlement et qui souffrent de mal être) et son talent incommensurable: elle écrit, elle produit, elle chante, elle joue de plusieurs instruments, elle danse, elle joue la comédie...
C'est vraiment une artiste complète, avec les pieds sur terre (malgré l'image qu'elle renvoie) et avec un coeur gros comme ça.
Franchement, je suis assez scotchée et heureuse de me dire que cette légende fait partie de "ma génération"! Et le fait que ce soit une femme ne rend la chose que plus délectable ^^

It only took one film. Lady Gaga’s turn as Ally in A Star Is Born has made her a bonafide movie star. Her role is generating Oscar buzz and last night in LA, she was honored as one of ELLE’s Women in Hollywood.
Still, she tells ELLE in her cover story, she feels “like a fetus” in Hollywood. To portray vulnerability when she was performing concert scenes in A Star Is Born, a venue she is more than familiar with, she said, “All I had to do was go, ‘I haven’t made it yet as an actress.’”
Gaga delivered her Women in Hollywood acceptance speech from an extremely vulnerable and honest place. She opened up about her sexual assault, mental illness, and a plea for women to lift up each other’s voices and “beckon the world towards kindness.” “I wanted to take the power back,” she said.
And part of reclaiming that power had to do with what she wore. While promoting A Star Is Born, Gaga has worn dramatic, glamorous, Old Hollywood gowns.
At ELLE’s Women in Hollywood event, she wore an oversized Marc Jacobs suit, her hair in a low bun. For Gaga, it was stripped down.
Here, an extended excerpt from Gaga’s moving acceptance speech:
I tried on dress after dress today getting ready for this event, one tight corset after another, one heel after another, a diamond, a feather, thousands of beaded fabrics and the most beautiful silks in the world. To be honest, I felt sick to my stomach. And I asked myself: What does it really mean to be a woman in Hollywood? We are not just objects to entertain the world. We are not simply images to bring smiles or grimaces to people’s faces. We are not members of a giant beauty pageant meant to be pit against one another for the pleasure of the public. We women in Hollywood, we are voices. We have deep thoughts and ideas and beliefs and values about the world and we have the power to speak and be heard and fight back when we are silenced.
So, after trying 10 or so dresses, with a sad feeling in my heart, that all that would matter was what I wore to this red carpet, I saw an oversized Marc Jacobs suit buried quietly in the corner. I put it on to a resounding view of eyes glaring at me in confusion. But the Rodarte was so beautiful! one said. But the Raf Simons for Calvin Klein was so stunning on you! said another. But what about the Brandon Maxwell? What about the Dior? Lots of questions. They were all dresses. This was an oversized men’s suit made for a woman. Not a gown. And then I began to cry. In this suit, I felt like me today. In this suit, I felt the truth of who I am well up in my gut. And then wondering what I wanted to say tonight become very clear to me.
As a sexual assault survivor by someone in the entertainment industry, as a woman who is still not brave enough to say his name, as a woman who lives with chronic pain, as a woman who was conditioned at a very young age to listen to what men told me to do, I decided today I wanted to take the power back. Today I wear the pants.
In an age where I can barely watch the news, I gasped at the unjust men, and some women quite frankly, that I see running this country. I had a revelation that I had to be empowered to be myself today more than ever. To resist the standards of Hollywood, whatever that means. To resist the standards of dressing to impress. To use what really matters: my voice.
After I was assaulted when I was 19 I changed forever. Part of me shut down for many years. I didn’t tell anyone. I avoided it myself. And felt shame even still today standing in front of you. I feel shame for what happened to me. I still have days where I feel like it was my fault. After I shared what happened to me with very powerful men in this industry, nobody helped me. No one offered my guidance or a helping hand to lead me to a place where I felt justice, they didn’t even point me in the direction of the mental health assistance I was in dire need of. Those men hid because they were afraid of losing their power. And because they hid, I began to hide.
I hid for a long time until I started to feel physical pain. Then I had to go to the doctor because I didn’t know what was wrong with me. And then I was diagnosed with PTSD and Fibromyalgia, which many people don't think is real, and I don't even know what the fuck to say about that. But I’ll tell you what it is. It’s a syndrome that is essentially a cyclone of stress induced pain. And I really wish my friend Lena Dunham was here tonight because I think she could probably articulate this much better than me. And I hope we can all agree that she’s a remarkable woman.
Depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma—these are just a few examples of the forces that can lead to this tornado of pain. So what I would like to say in this room of powerful women and men today is let’s work together to beckon the world towards kindness. I’m fortunate enough now to have the resources to help me. But for many, the resources either don't exist or people don't have the ability to pay for or access them. I want to see mental health become a global priority. We’re not able to control all of the challenges and tragedies that life throws our way. But we can work together. This room can work together to heal each other. And we can also try to find the strength in the best way that we can to ask for help if we need it. ... It is my personal dream that there would be a mental health expert teacher or therapist in every school in this nation and hopefully one day around the world. Let’s lift our voices. I know we are, but let’s get louder. And not just as women. But as humans. And see that there are great men in the world. And ask them to hold our hands. For justice. That our voices be heard. Whatever our story may be. For an equal standing. We will fight for justice for women and men and those with other sexual identities. For me, this is what it means to be a woman in Hollywood. It means, I have a platform. I have a chance to make a change. I pray we listen and believe and pay closer attention to those around us to those in need....Be a helping hand. Be a force for change.

Je l'ai regardé hier, merci pour le partage de ce speech Aurélie, je ne l'avais pas vu ! Je pense que c'est une personne qui a tellement de choses à dire et à apporter par le biais de ses discours et de son travail.
J'avais vu le reportage sur elle sur Netflix il y a quelques mois, et j'avais été contente de pouvoir apprendre à connaître un peu mieux son parcours. Parce qu'il faut l'avouer, au-delà de son succès, elle a une image publique fascinante, qui donne envie d'en savoir plus sur la personne derrière.
Et puis, elle partage ma date d'anniversaire, ça a toujours été ma référence dans ce domaine, chaque fois qu'on parle de célébrités nées le même jour que soi, c'est elle que je mentionne (parce que bon, Benjamin Castaldi, je l'apprécie, mais voilà... ).
Elle dégage une grande sensibilité et vulnérabilité (dans le bon sens du terme) quand il s'agit de sa manière de gérer à la fois son professionnel et son privé, c'est une vraie force je trouve.
