BuddyTV propose un récapitulatif des meilleures apocalypses de la télé ^^

Citation :
With all that’s been going on in the world lately -- birds falling out of the sky, dead fish, the debut of Oprah’s network -- many people are worried about the end of the world. But television has also dealt with this issue.

As television apocalypses are way more fun than the real thing, this slideshow highlights 20 of the best.

Supernatural

A great deal of the fourth and fifth seasons of Supernatural was devoted to the Winchester brothers’ desperate efforts to avert Armageddon. Fortunately, they did pull it off in the end. All it took was multiple deaths, worldwide violence, murdered angels, personal sacrifice and one seriously cool car.

Remember that whole “Save the cheerleader, save the world" thing? And the round-up of everyone with superpowers? And the world-ending disease? And…

No matter what the “Heroes" did, it pretty much ended in apocalypse.

When the Rapture came, a prepared Homer was swept up into Heaven. The rest of the family got left behind, though, so Homer trashed Heaven. Fortunately, God was at least as powerful as Superman and turned back time to before the Rapture. And they all lived happily ever after…

Roswell

By the beginning of season 2, star-crossed (literally) lovers Max and Liz looked ready to weather any emotional or intergalactic storm. Then a future version of Max traveled back in time to tell Liz she had to break up with present-Max. If she didn’t, the world would end.

That pretty much messed up the relationship. For awhile. Then they managed to defeat most of the evil, world-ending aliens. Reconciliation! Also, continued world.

What is the consequence of stealing a kid from one universe and taking him to another? According to Fringe, it’s the slow decay of one universe’s reality and possible inter-universe warfare.

Possibly not worth it.

In its animated quest to cover every topic imaginable, Family Guy touched on the apocalypse-via-Y2K in its second-season episode “Da Boom."

The episode bounced from nuclear holocaust to Twinkies to octopus mutants before ending with a Dallas dream and Bobby Ewing in the shower.

Like any good Buffy spin-off, Angel dealt with potentially world-ending crises on a regular basis. Unlike many shows, however, Angel actually disappeared from our televisions with the fate of the world still hanging in the balance. Did the good vampire and his motley cohort defeat the assembled forces of evil? Let’s hope so!

While initially just a cool toy for the super-rich, the mind-wiping technology used in Dollhouse eventually brought about the downfall of civilization. The world was then quasi-saved by the destruction of that technology, thereby providing an argument against backing up computer data.

After a massive attack by the Cylons, there were only about 50,000 humans left alive. They were forced to fly around space in ships and to deal with the fact that the Cylons totally had them infiltrated. It wasn’t so much fun.

South Park

Because most disaster and apocalyptic threats are far too global, South Park went the small-scale route with the 13th season episode, “Pee."

While visiting a water park, Cartman calculated that there would be no more white people left on Earth by 2012 and took this to be a sure sign of the apocalypse. Then the urine-filled waters of the park erupted, killing or trapping the characters.

Of course, as in all good apocalyptic disaster films, most of them made it out OK. Not Kenny though.

If you believe the basic premise of Doctor Who, the Earth would have been destroyed dozens of times throughout its history, were it not for the benevolent interference of the Doctor. Mostly, this is because of evil alien types. They’re kind of jerks that way.

This Gilmore Girls rip-off featured a small, quirky town dealing with life on the brink of worldwide apocalypse. Thanks to an errant asteroid, the Moon had split into three pieces and would soon be falling to Earth. Probably.

The show only lasted only a few episodes, but the end couldn’t come soon enough.

The Smoke Monster didn’t just rip random guest stars into shreds. It wanted to leave the Island as well. Unfortunately, doing so would have the side effect of ending the world.

So it’s probably a good thing that he got shot and then kicked over a cliff.

Following the nuclear decimation of 23 of America’s most important cities, the town of Jericho, Kansas became somewhat more prominent on the national scene. Personal, small-town, state, national and international intrigue all played a part in the future of a vastly changed world.

Presumably, this series focused on an apartment in California where survivors of a global catastrophe tried to survive and make sense of a new world.
Or maybe it was about something else. Hard to tell, since the show never even aired.

After some kids accidentally launched a nuclear missile with their remote-controlled cars, the entire world was destroyed. Only six people survived. One of them by virtue of being in a Volvo (with an airbag) at the time. Humanity’s remainders moved into a miraculously still-standing farmhouse, and wacky, post-apocalyptic hijinks ensued!

Seriously, this was a real show (starring a pre-baldness Evan Handler).

At some point in the future, a cataclysmic tragedy of some vague type threatens all of humanity. So of course they go went in time to kidnap random people, imbue them with psychic powers and then return them all at once. That obviously would make everything better.
